Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has stated that there will be openly LGBTQ characters in future Marvel films - and that at least one has already debuted. In an interview with The Playlist, Feige was asked if an LGBTQ character was "in the works", which Feige answered succinctly, "Yes."
In a follow-up asking if it would be a new character or a previously-appeared character revealing their sexuality, Feige expounded, saying "Both."
"Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen."
Back in October, Tessa Thompson confirmed that she played Thor: Ragnarok's Valkyrie as bisexual (as the character was in the comic books), but as the actress said "wasn't explicitly addressed" in the film.
And although there is a tacit divide in the Marvel Cinematic Universe between the movies and television, there have been several openly LGBTQ characters in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Netflix shows.
The next Marvel Studios' release is Ant-Man & The Wasp, out July 6.
