Marvel Hires Screenwriter for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

 

Marvel Studios has hired screenwriter Chris McCoy to write 2014's live-action Guardians of the Galaxy film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. McCoy doesn't yet have a produced credit, but his work has appeared on "the Black List" three times — a survey of well-regarded but unfilmed scripts that have made the Hollywood rounds (with many eventually getting made). A previous draft was written by Nicole Perlman. Guardians of the Galaxy, based on Marvel's space-faring heroes including Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, was officially announced last month at Comic-Con International in San Diego and is scheduled for release on August 1, 2014.
